Buckner Orphan Care International Maintains Critical Ministries to Orphans as Buckner Children and Family Services
You may have recently heard that Buckner Orphan Care International has changed it’s name. That partially true. For 11 years, BOCI has served as the international ministries arm of Buckner Baptist Benevolences. In 2006, Buckner trustees voted to change how Buckner organizes for ministry work to become more inclusive.
Among the steps they took were to:
§ Rename Buckner Baptist Benevolences, the corporate umbrella organization, to Buckner International. Buckner International will serve to function much as it has previously, by supporting the Buckner family of ministries, with President and CEO Kenneth L. Hall retaining his title. Buckner International is a diverse global ministry to children, families and older adults based in Dallas, Texas.
§ Fold the international work of Buckner Orphan Care International into Buckner Children and Family Services, the name chosen to represent Buckner’s combined domestic and international children’s efforts. Organizationally, BCFS is led by a new president, Albert Reyes. Buckner Children and Family Services is a globally oriented ministry that reflects our response to children in need through a global humanitarian aid program, volunteer missions opportunities, community enrichment and prevention programs, an international network of residential, foster care and transitional housing services, domestic and international adoption, and support programs for children living in orphanages in other countries.
All of the ministries of Buckner Orphan Care International are still active and we are experiencing growth in the number of mission teams we lead internationally and domestically, in the humanitarian aid we are collecting through Shoes for Orphan Souls and in the number of children we serve.
We are in the process of developing a new Web site that will feature our new organization and ways you can plug in to help orphan and at-risk children in the United States and in other countries.
