DALLAS -- Buckner International Adoption has facilitated Chinese adoptions to Texas families since 1999 and has now opened their services to members of all 50 states.

According to the U.S. State Department, more American families adopted from China in 2005 than any other country, providing new homes to nearly 8,000 Chinese orphans. This is due in part to the “predictable and stable adoption system in China,” said Debbie Wynne, director of Buckner International Adoption.

“When you’re adopting internationally, there are potential bumps in the road no matter what country you choose. But China is more consistent. The Chinese Center for Adoption Affairs handles all adoptions in China, making the process simple and less expensive for families.”

Families incur fewer expenses when adopting from China because there is only one trip required to finalize the adoption. Many other countries require two or more.

Buckner is currently seeking families to adopt healthy infants and toddlers, and several special-needs children between the ages of 2 and 4.

“We’ve been working with families in Texas for many years, and we now feel like we can work with families from all over,” Wynne said. “We saw the need, and we’re excited to share this news and hopefully help even more families adopt from China. You just never know what families the Lord will bring together.”
