Every day, Buckner receives requests from orphanages overseas
for emergency needs. Through the Gift from the Heart program,
we have been able to purchase items that these orphanages would
have had to do without – the orphanage directors have no one else
to turn to.
In 2002, it was a huge blessing for us to see the children receive
their gifts. From the babies who have cribs, diapers and formula
to the teenagers who now know the warmth of a new winter coat
and comfortable beds, all of these Gifts from the Heart continue
to improve the lives of children.
Pictured at right are just a few of the many projects we were
able to complete:
• Twenty babies in Romania were removed from old, lead-based painted
cribs into new wooden ones. Three babies in Guatemala were sleeping
between the children in beds until they received their new cribs.
Twenty-nine beds were purchased in Romania for older children
and 25 in Russia.

• Babies in Russia, Romania and Guatemala received new diapers
and formula.
• In Nairobi, all of the children at the Baptist Children’s Center
received new clothes.
• Six orphanages housing 80 children received medicine on a monthly
basis.
• 200 children in Russia and Romania received new warm winter
coats!
• Buckner provided brand new glasses for 40 kids in Romania.
• Baby food, baby clothes and blankets were given to babies in
Guatemala.
• School supplies were provided for hundreds of children in Russia,
Romania, Guatemala and Kenya.
• Vaccinations and vitamins were provided to numerous orphanages.
This program is one of the easiest ways our donors can directly
help a child. It also allows donors to give a gift to an orphan
in honor or memory of a loved one. Loved ones receive an acknowledgement
card letting them know that a gift was given to an orphan in their
name. It is now a year-round way that donors can fulfill urgent
needs and requests and touch the lives of children. |

In 2002, BOCI introduced the Friend of Orphans program to allow
our supporters to make a difference in the life of a child. By
supporting the work of Buckner Orphan Care International (BOCI)
on a monthly basis our “Friends” make it possible for Buckner
to provide:
• Follow-up ministry
• Facility improvements
• Humanitarian aid assistance
• Innovative programs
A little goes a long way. Just $25 a month will make a difference
to one child. Currently there are over 100 Friend of Orphans supporters
who contribute monthly to help us help children.
With your help we can continue to expand our ministry to the precious
